Day 6 - The Lemonade Diet

Having decided that we're only going to do this cleanse for seven days has, I think, made day 6 much easier.

Today's cravings included pizza, spaghetti, and cilantro. I don't know why... but they're all things I love, so that might have something to do with it.

Today's excellent moment of the day... chewing WinterFresh gum. Wow, I never knew just how good mint could taste!

The thing Carrie and I have both noticed on the lemonade diet is that we can develop kind of funky breath. So, chewing gum helps that problem, and also helps the mind with the whole idea of "You mean I'm not going to be chewing anything?"

Both Carrie and I love to eat good food, so this has been somewhat of a challenge, but a good one nonetheless.

Day 5 - The Lemonade Diet End of Day 5

It's the end of day five, and I really don't feel hungry. Actually, my stomach is a little unhappy.

I'm glad I didn't take the "Smooth Move Tea". Well, maybe not glad exactly, but I don't think I needed the "smooth move" tea, as I seem to have had my own little "smooth move" tonight (if you catch my drift). No? Everything came pouring out in one fell swoop. Which didn't take long, because there wasn't much in me, since it's been since last Tuesday (almost 6 days ago now), that I ate solid food.

Today, have been feeling pretty decent, pretty alert, but also pretty lethargic. Carrie and I went to the gym and I got on the stairclimber for 20 minutes and then we lifted weights... which was good... but I definitely feel pretty tired tonight. I don't know if that's a function on having gone skiing yesterday, or the workout today, or the lemonade diet, or some combination thereof.

However, RESULTS! Carrie and I both got on the scale at the gym. I'm 13-14 lbs. lighter than when we started, and Carrie's 11-12 lbs lighter than when we started. So, that's very good progress.

2 More days to go, since we've decided to cut this a bit shorter than the full 10 days.

Day 5 - The Lemonade Diet

Day 5 - The Lemonade Diet

Today's wierd cravings have been bologna (I NEVER eat bologna. Ever!) and anything smoked, and straw hats (which is basically Fritos dipped in sloppy-joe style hamburger).

Trials of the Lemonade Diet Day 3 and Day 4

Day 5

You may notice that this blog is a little wanting for posts from Day3 and day 4 of the lemonade diet.

That is because on the evening of Day3, Carrie and I went to a party. At this party, there was a significant amount of junk food. And the place had such wonderful food smells. And neither one of us could eat any of it. I also met with Dave Taylor (who is SOOOO cool by the way), at a coffee shop in Boulder, and I would have loved to have gotten a Chai Tea or other sweet and hot drink...

So that was a bit challenging.

Then yesterday, on Day 4, I went skiing with my parents, brothers, and sister. This was great because it was a BIG distraction. It was NOT great, because riding up in the car in the morning, I spent a good amount of time explaining what the lemonade diet was, and why I was doing it.

And that's difficult. I don't know 100% of the information about this particular cleanse, because it's my first time doing it, and, my "Why I'm doing it" is not very strong.

At lunch, they had pizza. The kind of pizza with cheese that stretches when you pull it, and toppings that make your mouth water just from looking at them, and yes, even with the crust that makes you think you've died and landed in heaven, (which it turns out is actually a German bakery). And I wanted them to eat whatever they wanted, but I definitely wanted a piece. Pizza IS one of my favorite foods, after all!

Oh, the other thing that made it difficult was that I had only taken 64 ounces of the lemonade drink for the entire day. Now, 64 oz. might be plenty when you're eating food, but when it's all that you're eating the whole day, it's not a lot.

So I drank about half of the lemonade before lunch time even arrived (I carried it with me while skiing), so at lunch time, I filled the bottle with water, and had a 50% diluted lemonade diet drink. Which was fine by me.

At the end of the day, as skiing wrapped up, everyone went inside to a restaurant, because we were watching ski jumping at Keystone. The jumping was awesome!

Unfortunately however, it took at least 20 minutes to get a glass of water and some lemons (service was not great, and the restaurant was slammed), and most of my 50% diluted lemonade was already gone. The place was actually a pizza restaurant, so during that 20 minutes, more pizza was being consumed all around me, and wings, etc.

And what's interesting is that my sense of smell for food seems to be extremely heightened, which makes sense... but in that environment, it was difficult not to just break down and eat something.

My family ordered nachos, and someone offered me some. Yes, I would love some, but "no, thank-you."

It didn't help that someone also said something to the effect of "It's been 3 days on your cleanse, I think that's long enough... don't you?" Of course it was all said in niceness, but it's interesting and sort of difficult to hear when you're trying to avoid shoving every last bite of nacho and chips into your mouth.

On the way back from skiing, my family stopped for dinner, and it was close to our house, so Carrie came and picked me up from the restaurant.

When I got back from skiing, and Carrie and I were talking, she told me that during the day (on Day 4), she had gotten a bit sick, and had also realized that her "Why I'm doing it" could be accomplished through other means.

So, to be honest, we got a bit discouraged.

We both experienced this inner conflict of "I really want to finish what I started" and "I really don't want to continue doing this."

So, we came up with a compromise. We will continue the lemonade diet for three more days, which will mean that we have been on it for 7 days total.

Here I am - my before picture

Okay... so here I am. Posted on the Internet.

This is my before picture (Note, hair on chest wasn't even airbrushed out). This is a picture of me from the waist up. (Nothing like stating the obvious!) My legs have always been (well, as long as I can remember) pretty musclely (Is that a word?) so they're not posted here.

So you can see I kind of have little wings on my stomach. I'm hoping that those will go away in the next 10 days.

At the end of this blog, I will post this picture side by side with my end picture, and we'll see what changes occured.

Carrie and I are off to a party now!

Day 3 - The Lemonade Diet

Well, I promised a before shot of me some time today. I should be on here shortly.

I've had some wierd cravings today though. Like potato chips. I NEVER eat potato chips (well, hardly ever), but today, I think that they sound quite good.

Positive results though! I notice that my skin feels tighter.

Carrie has been noticing some changes too, and shen she went to the gym today, she weighed herself, and the gym scale puts her at 6 lbs. lighter than when we started (basically three days ago).

So that's it for the moment. Look for a picture shortly.

The Lemonade Diet - End of Day 2...

Well, it's interesting this evening. Carrie and I got in a hot tub and both of us felt a little queasy... me while I was in the hot tub, and her, after she got out. But it seemed to go away quickly, which is good.

For some reason I had a craving tonight for deli turkey. Wierd.

So someone was interested in the time frame of the lemonade diet, so I'm posting it here.

  • Day 1, eat lighter. At the end of the day, drink "Smooth Move" tea, and when you wake up in the morning, you will (apparently) find everything running out of you quicker than Michael Johnson running on any track in the world. (For the youngsters reading this blog, Michael Johnson was dubbed "The fastest man in the world" after lapping several sprinters in the Olympics).
  • Carrie and I did not drink the Smooth Move tea, but we're thinking about doing it still.
  • Day 2-11, begin the lemonade drink. Drink as often as you like, but you can't have anything else.
  • Day 12 and Day 13, get some veggies, boil them, and you can drink the broth, in addition to the lemon drink.
  • Day 14 Eat the veggies from days 12 and 13.
  • Day 15, back to normal food. We've been advised - don't eat meat right away. The body won't like it immediately after this diet.

All in all, it's not bad. We did take "before" pictures today. Carrie doesn't want hers posted, but I will be a brave little toaster and put my glorious self out there for all to see! So, stay tuned for that tomorrow.

Day 2 - The Lemonade Diet

So far, this is not that difficult... I don't think anyway. I have gotten a grumbly tummy on a few occasions today though. For Carrie, it's hard when she's home alone, because there's food here to eat. For me, it was more difficult when I went to the mall today, and Panda Express was offering free samples. Boy, they smelled good.

But, it's all good. We are looking forward to getting fantastic results from this!

Back to the lemonade dinner!

Lemonade Diet - End of Day 1 - thoughts

Okay... so if I add the proper amount of cayenne pepper, I don't like the drink. It's not that I detest it, but I just don't like it. So I may need to take the cayenne tablets instead. Don't even know where to get these... I would assume at the grocery store?

Aren't you hungry?
Well, yesterday, I had pizza for lunch, and then started drinking the drink last night... But I'm not really hungry, which is kind of funny to me. I'm just doing what the people who I learned this from told me, which is, every time you feel hungry, just start sipping on the drink. So no, I'm not really hungry. It is tempting, however, when I open the fridge, to just crawl in there and eat something. Just kidding.

Yes, I think this will take some will power, but as Napoleon Hill says, "If you can learn to control your stomach, you can learn to control anything."

Weight

Oh yeah, I forgot to tell you our weight... I weigh in, starting the diet, at right at 200 lbs. Carrie weighs (She would shoot me if I posted her weight without asking first. Literally. I think she might shoot me. Or worse, give me the silent treatment! Just kidding.) But I'll let her decide if she wants to post her starting weight on here or not.

In the next post, we'll post pictures of us.

Day 1

Today is day 1 of the lemonade diet.

It's actually a cleanse, but everyone calls it a diet, so that's what I've named it here.

Last night, we were supposed to drink some tea called "Smooth Move". Apparently, when you wake up, everything you have ever eaten that has become lodged in your body somewhere will come out of you. Apparently this happens rather quickly.

We decided not to do that.

But if you have done it, we'd love to hear what your experience was.
No, really! (Catch the sarcasm!)

So here's how the diet works... for every 32 ounces of water, you put in
6 tablespoons of lemon juice (FROM A REAL Lemon, NOT REALLEMON or some other manufactured lemon product.)
4 tablespoons of REAL MAPLE SYRUP
1/4 teaspoon of Cayenne pepper (for the cleansing of mucus and gunk from your body).

So far, so good! More updates to come!
